Town and Country Planning Division (TCPD)
Town and Country Planning Division is charged with the responsibility for administering the Town and Country Planning Act, Ch. 35:01 of the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago, on behalf of the Minister responsible for town and country planning.

The functions of the Division derive from the mandate of the Minister, under the provisions of the Act, to secure consistency and continuity in the framing and execution of a comprehensive policy with respect to the use and development of all land in Trinidad and Tobago. This is effected by carrying out two main functions – Development Planning and Development Control. Click here for more info.
 
Advisory Town Planning Panel (ATPP)
The Advisory Town Planning Panel (ATPP) was established under Section 4 of the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 35:01. The Panel shall, with a view to the proper carrying out of the provisions and objects of the Act, advise the Minister on any matter within their knowledge or on which the Minister may seek their advice. It is in this regard that the Panel was empowered to reviews the decisions of Town and Country Planning Division. The Panel’s business is focused on its core competency – case review. Interviews are conducted, site visits undertaken and recommends made to the Honourable Minister in support of this core competency. The end result of these activities are that applicants are afforded a second opportunity to have their applications heard while the TCPD is also given the opportunity to re-examine the prevailing land use policies that affect the  initial decision of the Division.  Click here for more info.
 
Library Services Unit
The Main Library of the Min. PERSGA, established in 1967, was formed out of the Economic Planning Division of the Prime Minister’s Office.
 
From the period 1969 – 1986, the name of the Library changed several times as the names of the Ministry changed.  In 1986, by Cabinet Minute No. 2357 dated 25th September 1986, the Library Services Unit (LSU) was established in the then Ministry of Finance and Planning.  In 1988 by Cabinet Minute 1098 dd. 26th May, the LSU was permanently attached to the Ministry of Planning.
 
 The Library Services Unit (LSU) of the Min. PESRGA currently consists of one main library at the Twin Towers. There are research collections at Town and Country Planning Division (TCPD), National Transformation Unit, Central Statistical Office (CSO) and the Gender Affairs Division. Central Statistical Office (CSO)
The Central Statistical Office was established in 1952, by the passing of the Statistics Ordinance, Chapter 42, No. 11 of the Revised Ordinance 1952. This Ordinance was later replaced by the Statistics Act, Chapter 19:02 of the Revised Laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago 1982.

The CSO as a Government Department reports to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Planning and the Economy. Our hours of business are from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Mondays to Fridays (except Trinidad & Tobago public holidays). Click here for more info.
